How to create the ideal small bedroom games room: the keys to success

How to create the ideal small bedroom games room: the keys to success

The key to success for any gamer is having a designated space to relax and disconnect from the rest of the world.

When you’re in a comfortable, relaxed space, it’s much easier to focus your full attention on the game in front of you. While some gamers may prefer a large setup, you can create the ideal gaming environment in a small bedroom game room.

While this may not seem feasible at first glance, further thought will make you realize that all you need is a computer or console, a monitor, and a durable surface to place it on. This may be the simplest form of setup, but there are various unique setup ideas that can help you turn a small space into a personal escape.

To create the ideal small bedroom game room space, you need to create a plan and then execute that plan with the right tools and resources.

Install RGB LED ambient lighting

If you are looking for just a little touch to change the atmosphere of the game room in your small bedroom, consider buying some LED lighting.

The RGB lighting ambiance is created by LED lights that give you the ability to change the color of the lights. While some will only have red, blue or green options, others will offer the full spectrum of the rainbow.

Natural light isn’t a bad thing either, but depending on the vibe you’re going for, using LED lights in your gaming room setup is always a really good idea.

You can also set certain time limits or control the brightness of the lights. The ambient lighting provided by these lights is controlled by an easy-to-use remote control that will give you the option to customize the overall look of the room with a single touch.

Cozify your gaming setup

While PC gaming requires laser focus, that doesn’t mean you should completely forgo comfort.

In fact, your comfort can help you focus even more.

Consider cozying up your gaming setup with a comfortable gaming chair or other padded seating.

Console gamers generally have a bit more room here because they aren’t forced to play as close to the screen.

A cozy atmosphere can also be achieved by using low lighting and preventing the space from becoming too crowded.

Keep blankets or pillows nearby so you can easily reach them when you need to feel more comfortable. Use fairy lights instead of overhead lighting to avoid a migraine while playing.

Give them all a home

The key to having an ideal play space in a small bedroom, regardless of the size of the room, is not to make the space feel too claustrophobic.

To do this, you need to make sure you have a home for everything in the room. Having each item have a place to live in the room keeps it off the floor and out of the way.

While you don’t have to completely sterilize the entire space, a clutter-free and generally clean area will allow you to focus more on the game than on the litter and clutter. To achieve this, you may need to purchase additional storage drawers or install a few shelves throughout the room.

Keep safety in mind

Keep safety in mind

Since gaming requires the use of electronics, fire is always a hazard to be aware of. Although uncommon, gaming systems can overheat and catch fire. For this reason, you should take care to install all play equipment along a solid wall and away from drapes or other flammable surfaces. If the room is carpeted, consider placing everything on the desk or placing a pad between the floor and the hard drive or console.

It is also helpful to use a humidifier in the room. You don’t even need a full room humidifier. By simply placing one near the play area, you can greatly reduce static electricity in the area and reduce potential fire hazards.

Invest in a Mini-ITX case

Mini-ITX cases are a compact version of a computer’s motherboard. Using a Mini-ITX case, you can enjoy all your favorite PC games without sacrificing more space in your small bedroom gaming room. Mini-ITX cases measure approximately 170mm x 170mm and can easily be stored on a shelf next to your computer.

That said, it’s important to note that Mini-ITX cases have a power supply of less than 100W. Depending on your gaming needs, you may need to invest in more to get the power you need.

Use a TV/Monitor Duo

To reduce the space taken up by electronics, consider using one monitor for both streaming and gaming. There are also TV/monitor duos that let you switch between regular cable TV, Internet gaming, and console gaming. This option can be very useful for gamers who like to switch between PC and console to play their favorite games.

By getting a multifunction monitor, you can save space on your desk by compacting everything onto one or two screens.

TV/Monitor hinges

If you are unable to mount your monitors for any reason, we recommend that you consider using a TV or monitor swivel. Pivots are similar to mounts in that you need to secure your monitor to the device. However, instead of being attached to the wall, swivels have a separate base and you can move a TV or flat screen monitor in different directions. This allows you to bring it closer when needed and push it to the side when you don’t.

A swiveling TV or monitor will either come in the form of a rod or a sphere. Although both look different, they are installed in a very similar way. However, the ball pivot design allows for a wider range of motion than a rod design.

Hangers under the desk

To store your gaming accessories, consider using a Command hook or other type of hanger to keep these items at bay. Depending on the space you have under your desk, you can consider hanging baskets to store things like controllers, headphones and any other accessories needed for games.

You can also make video game controller stands with a few simple items from your nearest dollar store. It doesn’t take a lot of time, money or effort to create an efficient storage for small spaces. All you have to do is be a little creative.

Cable and clamp organization

How do I organize my cables under my desk?

In addition to storing accessories, you’ll also want to find a way to efficiently store all the cables needed to power your gaming systems. Keeping cables off the floor is essential to protecting your space from fire hazards. It can also completely hide cables to create a more comfortable and pleasing room aesthetic.

While some people may use long bins under the desk for storage power sockets, others may choose to install cable clips under the desk to hang cables up and out of the way. Whichever method you choose, keeping cables and power strips hidden creates a less distracting gaming environment.

Using right angle USB adapters

Right-angle USB adapters are great for areas without a lot of space for the cables needed to efficiently set up your gaming rig. Instead of having the USB port on the end of the adapter, a right-angle adapter allows you to plug it in where it’s needed and create a more secure and easily accessible USB connection point.

This unique design also allows you to set up your gaming system in areas of a small bedroom game room that would otherwise be unusable. You can easily place them in the corner of a room without worrying about damaging the cable wires or the protective outer layer.

Soundproof your setup

To soundproof a room, you can use surface material or completely soundproof the room before installing a more permanent solution. To permanently soundproof a small bedroom, you will need to tear out the drywall, place the necessary soundproofing foam, and replace the drywall. For game rooms, it’s best to use bass traps or soundproofing foam at least four inches thick.

For a less invasive method, consider installing acoustic paneling along your bedroom walls. This will create a soundproof room without having to completely tear the room apart. To get beyond the walls, consider adding soundproofing to your floors if they’re hardwood and acoustic ceiling tiles to prevent sound from entering or leaving the room.

While soundproofing may not seem necessary, it could make a huge difference if you live in a house with other people who don’t play as much as you.
